Customer Description

DJ Maltese Construction is a family-owned industrial, commercial, and residential general contractor based in Plymouth, Michigan. They provide a full slate of construction services including management, consulting, and building.

 Problem/Inquiry

Our customer, DJ Maltese, was approached by one of their local customers, YAPP Automotive, an automotive parts manufacturer to provide more office space in their manufacturing facility. As part of the design process, it was determined that to best utilize the space, one of the offices needed to be a two-level structure. In order to accommodate this request, DJ Maltese reached out to Mezzanine Distributors to help with the design, engineering, and installation of a custom mezzanine structure that would support second level office space.

 Solution

The Mezzanine Distributors team worked with DJ Maltese and its architect of choice to design and engineer the mezzanine structure. Placement of the columns and bracing was key in order to create the most space possible on the first floor. Mezzanine Distributors provided a 26’ clear span structure so that there were no interior columns on the first level. A u-shaped staircase was also provided in order to maximize space utilization. Our project manager and our installation team worked with the customer to coordinate receipt of materials and install the system in a facility that was in operation and constructing the needed office space. We also supplied PE stamped drawings for the system that our customer utilized to secure all necessary permits. As in any construction or expansion project, two of the biggest factors of the overall project are maintaining the agreed upon price and completing the project on schedule. These were both accomplished on this project, as is standard for Mezzanine Distributors.
