 Problem/Inquiry

The customer was adding a new facility to their existing network of locations.  They were retrofitting an existing space that had recently been vacated by a big box retailer.  Their specific offerings and interior design called for a 4,000 square foot mezzanine to add usable space and allow for additional revenue generating activities for the mezzanine to be utilized for, specifically duckpin bowling lanes and a food/drink area.  The specific design of the mezzanine, including placement of columns and any cross bracing, had to conform exactly to the overall design of the interior fit out taking place on the ground level of the facility.

 

 Solution

Mezzanine Distributors became an integral design partner, joining other project related professional service providers, such as the customer’s architect, engineer, general contractor and others in order to ensure that the mezzanine structure we designed, supplied and installed worked within the overall plans and design for the location and, ultimately, the in use activities planned to take place inside the facility.  

Our designed system and complete turnkey offering included the following:

  • Fast tracked design and PE structural engineering to meet the customers timeline requirements for jurisdictional permit review through an “Express Review” process.
  • Initiated and managed the fabrication process for the structural steel and staircases which met specific usage requirements for a retail location.
  • Our customer requested a custom paint color/application that we coordinated to deliver through our supplier partner.
  • Through a deep network of supplier partners Mezzanine Distributors was able to specify, design and supply flooring materials to include sub decking and an unfinished resin deck that the customer added their finished floor components onto.
  • Coordinated timing and received various deliveries of project materials which were moved inside the facility in preparation of install.
  • Mezzanine Distributors coordinated with our customer and their other trades on the job site to ensure a smooth and professional installation of the final structure in accordance with the original design plan.
  • Our installation process took just a little over a week which allowed the customer to get ahead of their expected schedule to begin the additional work they needed to perform in order to incorporate the mezzanine into the overall finished interior design plan for the overall facility

 Conclusion

Mezzanine Distributors partnered with our customer to become a trusted resource on their professional services team to deliver a critical revenue enhancing system in their newest location.  Our ability to coordinate and integrate into the overall project process allowed our customer the benefit of knowing that this part of the overall project was being professionally attended to and delivered, on time and on budget.

We are currently in the process of a similar project with this customer delivering two separate structures into another planned location in the Raleigh area that will house primarily a laser tag center.

The customer has future sites planned that we have already begun working to support them on.
